BOSTON, MA. An accident on city streets nearly ended in tragedy. A cab collided with another car, nearly totaling both vehicles. Onlookers rushed to help the injured. One man pulled the badly hurt driver to safety as the ambulance arrived. However, the danger was not over yet. As rescue crew arrived, the cab driver pulled a knife and grabbed the passenger of the other car, holding the blade to her neck. After a few seconds he panicked, dropping the blade and the woman and ran off into the crowd. It is not certain why he reacted this way. (E.Top@stater.nl) EDITORIAL - WAKE UP We live in a world where the media controls everything. What you believe, what you see, what you do. We live in a world where our clothes are dictated to us by the ads that are stained on our retinas. What do you believe? I mean really believe? What media bias do you believe in, what spin on events do you take as truth, and what as lies? Weapons of mass destruction. The perpetrator had a gun. There was screaming inside. This law is for the safety of all people. Non-profit organization. Democratic election. You think that anyone can be president? Next you’ll tell me that you have freedoms. The media is a being, like a plague, swallowing those who get in the way. Rebels like Matt Drudge quickly become pawns of the very thingy they fought against. We live in a world. Not it is time to start changing it. Wake up. |
BOOK REVIEW Free Your Mind and Your Wallet Will Follow: Why Advertising is Making Your Life Suck. By Dr Fred Mayhew Lost? Feel like you don’t really understand what is going on? Neither did Fred Mayhew. So the famous shrink heads off to a small commune in India to see what he can discover about the world. What does he discover there? What does a commune with no electricity tell us about the world as a whole? Should I give away the book? Dr Mayhew has two natural talents. The first is getting large groups of people pissed off at him. The second is taking anything and making it feel new. He accomplishes both within the first four pages. The idea that the media dictates your life is nothing new. Neither is a scientist joining a segregated, isolated group and profess to understand human nature. Dr Mayhew, however, holds no punches when he tells you, not what he believes, but what he knows. Halfway between a diet book and a angry beat poet, the good doctor never leaves you behind, even if you aren’t sure what the hell he is saying. Though he does suggest to meditated on the book’s cover in several places. The pattern and design are supposedly free of media bias, and outside influence. The media is screaming so loudly about this book, you would be surprised to find it anywhere. But it is everywhere, and so is Dr Mayhew. The world will never look the same after you read this book. . |
